Today, we’d like to share how AMOG and sowento named our collaborative floating wind monitoring technology “Ozea.”

The Name Origin
Naming our joint product was quite an adventure! We played with words and ideas until “Ozea” emerged as our perfect match:
Ocean Connection: Our technology dances with the waves, where offshore wind turbines generate clean energy – so we wanted a name that captures that beautiful blue expanse where our systems thrive.
German Flair: “Ozea” is a shortening of the German word for ocean, “Ozean” – another nod to both the sea and sowento’s roots in Germany.
Australian Flair: “Ozea” rolls off the tongue with echoes of the colloquial name for Australia, “Oz” – a link to AMOG’s heritage in that country.
Renewable Energy Purpose: We fell for a fresh name that carries meaning beyond our separate company backgrounds – Ozea reminds us daily that our new work together supports a sustainable energy generation that our planet so desperately needs.
Team Spirit: No top-down decisions here! We embraced democracy, with team members from both companies pitching names and voting until Ozea won our hearts.
About Our Technology
Ozea is a holistic offshore and floating wind condition & integrity monitoring in commercial-scale wind farms. Ozea provides insights into structural loadings, limit states, system and components integrity, and serves as a tool to analyse accessibility, plan maintenance and optimise the operation of the assets. It uses a time-resolved physical real-time model and machine learning methods inside its digital twin to reduce uncertainty and increase reliability and bankability of commercial floating wind farms.
